Award winning singer/songwriter Fremont John and his band are coming back to Ludington’s Friday Night Live!  You should expect to hear an unusual mix of original songs and covers.  The originals will come from 4 indie releases, “Acoustic Thunder”, “Timeline”, the instrumental CD, “Guitar Songs” and the more recent “Contrarian”.  Covers are likely to include Blues, Classic Rock of the 60’s, 70,s, 80’s and beyond.  You may also expect an occasional venture into the 1920’s-30’s.  And then, there are the guitar instrumentals mostly from previously mentioned instrumental CD, “Guitar Songs”.  Fremont John is a guitarist with a very melodic and readily identifiable sound.  Think Craig Chaquico or an acoustic Carlos Santana.  As a singer, he is often compared, in style and vocal quality, to John Fogerty, Rob Thomas, Chris Issak and Roy Orbison.  Fremont John presents a very polished and poised act.  It’s and act that evolved over years of playing a very heavy schedule of live gigs in Key West, FL and then, in the coastal towns of Florida and Michigan and many points in between.

Fremont will be backed up and supported by local bass player wiz, Jason “Harvey” Hargreaves.  Harvey brings some hard thumping funk bass into the mix along with his broadly appealing vocal skills.  Ask Havey to sing “Walkin’ in Memphis” or, “Ain’t No Sunshine”  and you will  know why he’s loved throughout the area.

Finally, Mike “Mikey” Carden, longtime drummer and musical cohort of Fremont John’s, brings the drum kit to support and enhance those funky grooves Harvey lays down.  Carden and John go way back to the early days.  You can hear Carden on percussion on 3 of Fremont John’s CDs, “Acoustic Thunder”, “Guitar Songs” and “Contrarian”.

This trio is sure to please.  They always do.  So, don’t miss them this summer at Friday Night Live.
