Award winning singer/songwriter Fremont John charted on ReverbNation’s National Indie chart at #5 in the USA and #7 globally in 2014.  That same year, he was voted the #1 Original Artist in Tampa Bay which includes the cities of Tampa, St. Pete, Clearwater and others. Also, in 2014, his CD, “Contrarian” was submitted for a Grammy and though it was not nominated, it made it to the pre-nom list which, is the much smaller pool from which the nominees are selected.  In 2015, his song “The Eagle” was selected as Runner-Up in the “Song of the Year” international songwriting competition.  For several years before, he was steadily ranked on ReverbNation as the #2 Jazz artist in the Tampa Bay market for his CD, “Guitar Songs”.  The #1 artist was the great Chick Corea, who resides in Clearwater.

This is Fremont John’s third season performing at this very popular west Michigan winery and music venue.  Fox Barn Music lovers can expect to hear an unusual mix of original songs and cover tunes. The original music will come from 4 indie releases entitled, “Acoustic Thunder”, “Timeline”, the instrumental CD, “Guitar Songs” and the more recent “Contrarian”. Covers are likely to include Blues, Classic Rock of the 60’s, 70,s, 80’s and beyond. You may also expect an occasional venture in the F.J. “time machine”, into the 1920’s-30’s. And then, there are the guitar instrumentals mostly from previously mentioned instrumental CD, “Guitar Songs”.

Fremont John is a guitarist with a very melodic and readily identifiable sound. Think of the sounds and styles of Craig Chaquico or an acoustic Carlos Santana. As a singer, Fremont John is often compared, in style and vocal quality, to John Fogerty, Rob Thomas and Roy Orbison. This solo act often sounds like a duo or even a trio as he loops multiple guitar tracks. He utilizes a vocal harmonizer to fill out the sound with 3-part vocal harmony with arrangements that are all is own even if the song is not. Fremont John presents a very polished and poised act. It’s an act that evolved over years of playing a very heavy schedule of live gigs in Key West, FL and in the gulf coast towns of Florida and along the western shoreline of Michigan and many points in between.
