Fremont John debuts at this very popular Frankfort venue. Percussionist extraordinaire, Michael Carden, joins him on congas and hand percussion. Michael Carden is often an added treat to Fremont’s usual solo show. You can expect to hear an unusual mix of original songs and cover tunes from them. The original music will come from Fremont’s 4 indie releases. The CD’s are respectively titled “Acoustic Thunder”, “Timeline”, the instrumental CD, “Guitar Songs” plus the more recent “Contrarian”. Covers include Blues and Classic Rock of the 60’s, 70,s, 80’s, etc.. You may also expect an occasional venture in the F.J. “way-back machine”, taking you back to the 1920’s-30’s. Then, there are the guitar instrumentals, mostly from previously mentioned instrumental CD, “Guitar Songs”. Fremont John is a guitarist with a very melodic, readily identifiable guitar sound. Think of the sounds and styles of Craig Chaquico or an acoustic Carlos Santana. As a singer, Fremont John is often compared, in style and vocal quality, to John Fogerty, Rob Thomas and Roy Orbison. John loops multiple guitar tracks, often causing this duo act to sound like a trio or even a 4-piece. He utilizes a vocal harmonizer to fill out the voices with 3-part harmony playing arrangements that are all is own even if the song is not. Carden is a well-schooled and disciplined drummer and percussionist bringing the sound of congas and other small percussion to the mix.
